Investing in a new building is a significant undertaking, so it is essential to find a construction company with the experience and expertise to provide a top-quality structure that is both well built and cost-effective. RAQ is just such a company, a pre-designed, design & build and steel-structure turnkey main contractor specialising in executing construction projects in various segments.
First opening its doors for business in 2013, the company’s friendly and positive approach has helped to attract and retain a broad spectrum of discerning clients in sectors such as commercial, residential, industrial, hospitality, healthcare, aviation and recreational. Its quality workmanship and on-time performance have not gone unnoticed either. Indeed, United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) invited RAQ to present and unveil the Philippines Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai during a special event held by UAP to showcase what has become one of the Expo’s most anticipated Pavilions.
The event drew a crowd of 400 architects and designers from over 100 design and consulting firms across the length and breadth of the UAE. They discovered in detail how RAQ built the Pavilion, incorporating meticulous planning and coordination between the team, engineers and suppliers, as well as the adoption of new technologies.Other projects at present include the Luxembourg Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, with a design that resembles a Mobius strip, symbolising the country’s openness, dependability and dynamism. RAQ has recently been awarded DP World’s new headquarters at Mina Rashid too, featuring two o ice towers, 32 and 21 floors high, a car park, podiums and service block. This design & build engineering marvel is being executed in 24 months. A highly trained and specialised team on-site and in the o ice allows RAQ to exceed the highest expectations of its clients, which is the company’s main priority. And with many contracts being awarded through repeat business and recommendation, RAQ is looking to the future with genuine excitement, committed to continuing to maintain and surpass the quality standards for which the company is renowned.
Over 400 Architects Under One Roof
Every quarter, the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP124 Dubai) brings together its members, all of whom have a passion for upgrading their knowledge. And with over 400 architects from 386 companies, not forgetting emirates projects
Very own Jane Muff, an ambassador for UAP, the event became the biggest gathering of filipino architects in the middle east ever recorded.
Moreover, 2020 marked the first year that the UAP124 Dubai formally included fellow architects from the UAP Abu Dhabi Chapter with the theme ‘Mutahad 2020’, an Arabic term for ‘United’.
The event started with the first panel discussion, with the topic being ‘A Simple Hello Could Lead to a Million Things’, which homed in on internal networking. Then Oliver Baxter, Psychologist and Brand Evangelist at Herman Miller Insight Group, presented the topic ‘How to Catalyse Your Workplace for Growth?’ As part of the Group’s ongoing investigation into the connection between people, work and the workplace, he presented the report on an experiment they conducted with 13 organisations around the world. This vast pool of research shows that when it comes to creating workplaces that are primed for organisational growth, only a unique, personalised, research-based environment will do. Next up was “How I Did It?” In this session, the panel interviewed two UAP 124 Dubai members who took the most significant career leap of their lives, by starting their own company in Dubai and the Philippines. Meanwhile, Adulting 101 looked at ‘things I regret not doing in my 20s or 30s, but it’s not too late to start’ – a fascinating topic.
In his quarterly report, UAP Dubai Chapter President Arch. Christian Romulo Vasquez – Architect / Business Development Executive at National Engineering Bureau – summed up by declaring that “UAP124 is the keeper of the best, upholds educational and professional standards and is the voice of the profession. It is our home; this great house is the envy of all other professions.”
