As the largest architectural firm in the Middle East, National Engineering Bureau (NEB) has completed a wide range of diverse and successful projects throughout the UAE and Egypt, including residential towers, villas, resorts, hotels, hospitals, retail schemes, commercial offices, labour camps, and industrial developments was established in 1976.
As a comprehensive Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP), Structural, and Interior Design firm, NEB provides excellence from the inception of a project right through to its successful completion. It has the ability to control and guide projects through early authority approvals and design review, producing complete technical construction documents and supervising the construction process up until the project’s handing over.
NEB is currently active on, or has recently handed over, several important and prestigious projects, not least the No.9 Tower, located on one of the last remaining waterside plots at Dubai Marina, which was completed in 2018.
Because the number nine is regarded as an auspicious number in the UAE, signifying a sign of future success, the developer, Select Group, decided to build it in the most desirable master-planned community development in the country.
Consisting of one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, plus four-bedroom penthouses, this luxury residential and commercial development has been created by some of the best designers and engineers in the business, and is the last word in combining elegance, class, and value for money. Spread out over 34 floors, in addition to a ground floor and five basement floors, No.9 offers spectacular marina views and superior finishes
A Place to Call Home
Studio One by Select Group is a high-rise building located in the heart of the up-and-coming west end of Dubai Marina and offers studio, and one- and two-bedroom apartments. It is an outstanding addition to the Dubai Marina skyline and, distributed over 31 floors, has been designed for millennials: busy young professionals, first time homeowners, and informed investors searching for attractive returns. From its modern exterior to carefully crafted interior components, from prime finishing to various amenities, Studio One is the place to call home.
The meticulously planned homes feature full-length windows and remarkably efficient layouts. Two levels of dedicated underground parking, a breathtaking swimming pool, and conveniently situated ground level retail are amongst the amenities that the residents will enjoy.
Located within close proximity to the Bluewaters Island, Studio One is also on the doorstep of the four-star Wyndham Hotel, as well as a wide array of restaurants, supermarkets, and salons. Within walking distance of water taxis, bicycles, the tram, metro, RTA buses, and taxi stops, Studio One is mere minutes from business hubs such as Dubai Media City, Dubai Internet City, and Jebel Ali Industrial Zone. Dubai Parks and Resorts, featuring Legoland Dubai, Bollywood Parks, Motiongate Dubai, and Riverland Water Park, is located just a 20 minute drive away, too.
A Cut Above … Without the Hiked Prices!
For independent, tech-savvy travellers who value time and efficiency, YOTEL offers a completely new hotel experience with everything that you need and absolutely nothing that you don’t. The 300 unit hotel at The Crescent, Nakhlat, Palm Jumeirah, is an excellent example of this philosophy. For by using its signature, cutting-edge style and design, YOTEL has created small but perfectly-formed cabins for guests who get pleasure from quality but do not need the fuss of a conventional luxury hotel. By taking out the pointless extras, YOTEL gives space for its guests to enjoy their stay in superior locations without having the superior prices.
This six-floor hotel, plus ground, basement, and roof, features 270 Premium Rooms, 10 First-Class Rooms, 16 VIP Suites, and four Disabled Rooms. What’s more, YOTEL is a company with a conscience, insisting on minimising its impact on the environment through efficient energy, water, and waste management programmes during both construction and operation. And NEB has been more than happy to ensure that this commitment has been kept.
An Air of Opulence
Asas Tower, a 17-floor commercial and residential building on King Faisal Road, Sharjah, adds significantly to the Emirate’s skyline, with its brilliant use of glass casting an aura of affluence and style over the local surroundings.
Featuring 164 residential units, incorporating 140 two-bedroom and 24 three-bedroom apartments, Asas Tower also has 5,650ft2 of commercial space.
NEB’s scope of works on this project, as with all of the other projects mentioned, takes in everything from initial concept through to construction supervision and handover. Furthermore, all buildings are Dubai Green Building compliant.
Twin Towers Form Iconic Development
Finally, a unique mixed-used development project located in Al Mina, Abu Dhabi, features stunning twin towers that overlook Al Maryah Island. The focal point of the scheme is drawn to the podium, where the roof is designed as an abstract landscaped deck, with the twin towers forming an iconic water front development.
The twin towers are designed and oriented to sit at the centre of the eastern edge in order to maximise the new waterfront views. Stitching the development into the fabric of the city and embedding it into the community, there were a number of critical aspects that had to be considered. These have been successfully circumnavigated not only in terms of complementary and shared uses, but also architecturally in terms of the massing, scale, and materiality of the development.
The planning was done to maximise usable outdoor space through balconies, terraces, gardens, parks, and plazas. The towers are orientated to allow maximum light into the scheme, and feature a series of external terraced gardens. Landscaped podium decks were created around the building, linked by an informal route with indoor/outdoor swimming pool, gym, spa, party halls, indoor/outdoor play courts, pedestrian trails, gazebos, and jogging tracks at two interconnecting levels.
Rising 21 floors, plus four basements, two parking levels (with 1,071 parking spaces), and a ground floor, the twin towers include both commercial and residential spaces and facilities. In total, there are 491 residential units and 162 retail units. In addition, there are two levels of health club facilities, a hypermarket and department store, a selection of casual dining restaurants and food courts, and a family entertainment centre.
