The ‘an hour with a cleaning worker’ initiative, organised by Dubai Municipality Waste Management Department, has attracted 3,000 volunteers from various categories of the local community. The initiative is part of the Municipality’s efforts to contribute to the consolidation of the culture of voluntary work in society.
The initiative recorded high interest from employees and students. It also attracted a lot of families, in addition to a number of ‘people of determination’, who are interested in environmental service and city cleaning. Volunteers supporting this initiative belong to government and private establishments and companies in the Emirate, reflecting a high level of awareness by volunteers to serve their city.
Eng. Abdul Majeed Saifaie, Director of Waste Management Department and Head of the Awareness Team in the field of Sustainable Waste Management at Dubai Municipality said: “We recognise the importance of providing volunteering opportunities to various segments of society, enabling them to make clear contributions in supporting the efforts to preserve the environment and the urban appearance of the Emirate.”
