Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has won the Best Business Award, one of the UK’s highest-profile awards. DEWA won in the Best Customer Focus category for its Hab-Reeh Web Service, a smart interactive platform for self-assessment of photovoltaic solar system designs. This is part of the Shams Dubai initiative, launched by DEWA to encourage building owners to install solar photovoltaic rooftop energy systems and connect them to DEWA’s grid.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, expressed his pride at winning this award for the second time. He noted that this achievement reflects DEWA’s commitment to achieving the vision of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to transform the Government of Dubai into a fully digital government.
“We support the success of the Shams Dubai initiative, which we launched in accordance with the Smart Dubai initiative to make Dubai the smartest and happiest city in the world. We strive to develop the initiative to provide more opportunities for Dubai residents to transform their buildings into sustainable ones. This reduces the Emirate’s carbon footprint and increases the proportion of solar power in Dubai’s environmentally-friendly energy mix. Hab-Reeh Interactive Web Service supports the design and installation of solar photovoltaic panels rooftop energy systems according to the highest quality levels and the best international standards. It accelerates the assessment and approval of these systems as well as ensuring their compliance with DEWA’s quality energy standards. This saves the time and effort of Shams Dubai project constructors. It also supports the significant results achieved by Shams Dubai. Until 31 March 2021, Shams Dubai has connected over 6,727 buildings with a capacity of 298.7MW,” said Al Tayer.
The jury congratulated DEWA for winning the award, commending its success in automating the assessment and approval of solar photovoltaic rooftop energy systems. This speeds up the installation of solar systems and makes them more accessible. The jury said that applying the best international standards to measure and monitor customer happiness ensures DEWA’s constant improvement of its services. The jury highlighted that contractors and consultants’ satisfaction level towards Hab-Reeh surpassed 94% in 2020, which underlines DEWA’s efforts in providing innovative services that exceed customer expectations.
