Reducing added sugars supports healthier diets across the UAE through public-private collaboration.
Al Ain Farms Group (AAFG), one of the UAE’s largest food and beverage manufacturers, has pledged to reduce added sugars by 10–20% across its Al Ain Farms and Marmum Dairy portfolios, reinforcing its commitment to healthier nutrition and supporting Abu Dhabi’s Healthy Living Strategy.
The initiative represents a major milestone in the emirate’s drive to improve public health through collaboration between government and industry. As one of 28 strategic initiatives under the Healthy Living Strategy, the program aims to improve the nutritional profile of everyday food and beverage products while maintaining the quality, taste and consumer confidence that shoppers expect.
The commitment was formalized in partnership with Healthy Living and the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC), highlighting AAFG’s role in advancing responsible food innovation and contributing to a more prevention-focused approach to public health.
His Excellency Dr. Ahmed AlKhazraji, Executive Director of Healthy Living, said improving the nutritional quality of everyday foods is one of the most effective ways to encourage healthier lifestyles. He added that AAFG’s leadership demonstrates how local manufacturers can help strengthen the UAE’s healthy food ecosystem while preserving consumer choice, quality and affordability.
His Excellency Eng. Abdulla Hassan Al Muaini, Executive Director of the Central Testing Laboratory at QCC, welcomed the commitment, noting that it supports the shared objective of helping consumers make healthier choices without compromising product quality or taste.
Hassan Safi, Group CEO of AAFG, said the initiative reflects the company’s long-term commitment to enhancing the nutritional value of its products through both innovation and reformulation. He emphasized that AAFG aims to make healthier options more widely available while maintaining the taste consumers expect, building on its pioneering no-added-sugar beverage range.
The company introduced a new healthy product range in April 2026 and will now reformulate several popular products, including flavored milk, yogurt and laban under both the Al Ain Farms and Marmum Dairy brands. The updated products are expected to reach retailers ahead of the Back-to-School season in September 2026.
By working closely with government partners, AAFG is helping establish a new benchmark for food reformulation in the UAE. The Healthy Living initiative will continue collaborating with public and private sector organizations to create food environments that make healthier choices easier and more accessible, particularly for children and young people.
