How A Built Space Can Remain Relevant in an Ever-Changing Urban Fabric.

Marina Mall has been a beloved destination in Abu Dhabi since 2001. As the city evolved and new shopping destinations emerged, the mall needed to stay relevant. Rather than demolishing and rebuilding, the decision to renovate demonstrated a powerful commitment to sustainability and urban continuity.

Lighting became the centrepiece of this transformation. A dynamic, programmable façade turned the building into a striking nighttime landmark. Inside, improved lighting enhanced the shopping experience, guided visitors intuitively, and celebrated local artistic identity.

Smart Design Proves Sustainability Can Cut Energy Demand

The renovation replaced outdated halogen and HID systems with energy-efficient LEDs. This cut electricity consumption significantly and proved that sustainability and great design work together.

The project faced real challenges, working within an operational mall, coordinating multiple contractors, and installing under Abu Dhabi’s intense heat, all required careful planning and strong teamwork.

Integrating Sustainable Technology With Human‑Focused Lighting

This project showcased how thoughtful lighting solutions can reshape urban spaces. Our expertise as a lighting supplier extended beyond product selection. We integrated deep knowledge of sustainable technologies with our understanding of how light influences human experience and environmental impact. By pairing the right LED solutions with strategic design, we helped Marina Mall achieve both aesthetic excellence and measurable energy savings.

Marina Mall’s transformation proves that existing buildings can be reimagined rather than replaced, and that the right lighting partner makes all the difference in creating vibrant, sustainable spaces for generations to come.
