New civic destination blends cultural heritage with modern design.
Located on the edge of the UNESCO-protected Al Ain Oasis, the Hub serves as a dynamic threshold between the historic palm groves and the modern urban landscape. This innovative design prioritizes public accessibility and environmental stewardship, ensuring that the oasis remains a sanctuary for reflection and social interaction.

The integration of light and water as core design elements transforms the visitor experience. Illuminated pathways guide guests through the oasis, encouraging exploration and connection with nature. The Hub features contemporary interpretations of the traditional falaj irrigation system, fostering a sensory-rich environment that enhances comfort and engagement.

The design is structured around three primary courtyards, each responding to the natural rhythms of the palm trees and local climate. These outdoor areas function as social anchors, promoting informal gatherings and facilitating community interaction. The East Gate zone stands out as the main activation point, featuring food and beverage outlets, retail kiosks, and integrated seating, all designed to blend seamlessly into the landscape.

Movement throughout the Hub is intuitive, with a network of shaded pathways and thoughtfully placed landscape elements guiding visitors through a diverse array of spaces. This careful layering of soft and hardscapes not only enhances thermal comfort but also fosters a sense of tranquility and orientation.

The Al Ain Oasis Hub represents a shift from monumental architecture to an immersive civic landscape that resonates with the living heritage of Al Ain. By embracing the rhythms of palm, shade, and water, this project redefines the oasis edge as a vibrant place for gathering and discovery, ensuring its spirit remains accessible for future generations.
“Understanding a place like Al Ain Oasis is not about recreating its visual identity, but about recognizing the intelligence behind it, its systems, its scale, and its relationship with climate and people. Our ambition was for the project to be embraced by the community, and seeing that sense of pride confirms it has found its place within the oasis,” said Ignacio Gomez, Global Design Principal at Aedas.
